About WriteSteps

WriteSteps

Danielle worked in multiple Boston area public school systems for several years. In the summer of 2004, she relocated with her husband to California to enjoy the warmer climate. She currently works part-time in the San Diego county public school systems and has recently opened her own private practice in the Del Mar area.

Danielle works with children from ages 2 1/2 through high school. She works with children who come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of the diagnoses include children with autism, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, failure to thrive, dysgraphia, ADD, learning disabilities (including children with nonverbal learning disability), and sensory processing disorders.

Danielle has experience working closely with teachers and other therapists to collaborate and provide  the most effective means of treatment. She has experience with writing appropriate individualized education plans (IEP) and providing school staff with the appropriate accommodations necessary for a child’s optimal functioning in the classroom.

Danielle has worked with many children that experience difficulty with sensory integration. She stands behind the importance of providing parents sensory strategies that they can incorporate both at home and at school. She has attended a workshop presented by Carol Kranowitz (author of The Out of Sync Child) and Paula Aquilla (author of Building Bridges Through Sensory Integration). Teachers and parents have reported to Danielle that many of the strategies that she has recommended are successful in improving a child’s attention in the classroom and at home.
